A Gym in Your Suitcase

A Gym in Your Suitcase

It was already hard to find motivation to get to the gym before COVID-19 and now that gyms are closed at home and in hotels, it’s even a harder struggle to find the motivation and will power to workout in your room.

This month for work, I packed a jump rope and lateral ankle straps to help keep me moving while social distancing in my hotel room for 18 days days when I wasn’t able to go out on a run.

This worked out well on rainy days as I was able to get my heart rate up with the jumprope and get some toning in with the resistance straps, even if it was just for a few minutes! *pats shoulder and eats a congratulatory cookie*

To make things easier, my friend Mackenzie runs an entire Instagram account called @FitnessForFlight and she shares a ton of videos and tips on how to still get a decent workout in while in your hotel room.

Mackenzie is a NetJets Corporate Flight Attendant who works 7 days on, 7 days off rotationally every month so she really does understand what it’s like to be on the go yet still squeezing in time to workout.

She breaks down some of her best tips below!

Finding the time and motivation to work out on the road can often be quite a chore, especially in this difficult time when a lot of hotel gyms are closed and access to most equipment is simply unavailable.

Luckily, there are tons of other ways outside of a hotel gym to get in a great workout and stay active! So many exercises can be done in the comfort of your own hotel room to work every part of your body using simple equipment like a resistance band and your suitcase, or even using no equipment at all.

If you want to venture out of your room the hotel stairs are a great place for an awesome workout, or bringing along a jump rope and getting some fresh air outside. I know our suitcases are usually already packed tight, but these few pieces of equipment can easily be stored in a sneaker and take up absolutely no room.

It is so important to take care of ourselves out on the road especially during this time of uncertainty, and staying active doesn’t have to be sacrificed! Stay healthy and stay active!

Speaking of workout gear…

One of my best #PackingTips I have is to own and pack workout clothing that you could wear to run errands, fly comfortably in, even go to a casual brunch that doubles as your workout clothes. I tend to buy all black workout clothing to ensure utmost versatility and get the most out of suitcase space.

Covering my face above because I had just worked out and was all flushed and red! But wanted to still show the versatility of investing in nice black workout clothes. I can throw a sweater over this and its comfortable and relaxed, I can throw a leather jacket on with sneakers and its sporty. ~Magical packing wizardry~
