This is an easy, quick trick to use on a full button mushroom for plating. I’ve used this mushroom garnish on a crudités platter, for steak dishes, and even utilized to make Beef Stroganoff look fancy (a very hard task indeed)
For crudités, leave it raw. For cooked dishes, place in microwave/oven steam bag with butter and herbs to cook for 3 minutes and then plate.
Directions
- Using a pairing knife or fingers, delicately remove mushroom skin
- Hold the stem on the mushroom between fingers to protect the delicate outer flesh of the mushroom that can easily rip
- Using the tip of your pairing knife, start in the center and work in a circle depressing the tip of your pairing knife gently into the flesh of the mushroom
- For crudité, leave the mushroom garnish raw. To cook quickly onboard steam with butter, herbs, and salt in a microwave/oven steam bag
