Scholarships & Mentorships When I first got start

Scholarships & Mentorships When I first got started as a CFA, I applied and won a scholarship thru Women in Corporate Aviation. This year I was able to pay it forward by donating a Flightess mentorship/scholarship to NBAA for Corporate Flight Attendant skill training (@skyqueen_xo won!!) ⁣There are tons of resources in this business aviation community such as NBAA and @womenincorpaviation with scholarships that you can apply to any professional or educational development (not just for CFA’s either!), Women in Corporate Aviation also offers a mentorship program⁣⁣I highly encourage any seasoned CFA’s to sign up as Mentees in the WIC program as a way to honor the help and guidance that you were perhaps shown by someone when you too first got started. ⁣⁣Be sure to check out the scholarships on NBAA, Women in Corporate Aviation, as well as this year’s first inaugural POC CFA Scholarship which opens this Fall.⁣⁣•www.nbaa.org•www.wca-intl.org/mentorship⁣•www.poccfascholarship.com ⁣⁣[this photo was taken right after I received the packet informing me I had won the scholarship]

Let’s talk Seatbelts💺⁣⁣⁣⁣Do you cross one end over the seat for easy accessibility? ⁣⁣⁣⁣or⁣⁣⁣⁣Do you pleat & tuck the seatbelt strap under the back of the seat with the buckle exposed, out of the way? ⁣⁣⁣No wrong answers here! I think it’s helpful to have these open dialogue [judgment free] discussions about the little things in our job⁣⁣⁣⁣Comment below your own thoughts !!

Let me explain why Canapés are my secret weapon with the #FlightessPhilosophy⁣⁣Every Flight Attendant can relate to the heart-pounding-pressure induced service flow of your onboard guest’s meal. It can be nerve-wracking to ensure that the flow of your dining experience is executed perfectly. You’re balancing oven-cooking times, a microwave, setting up for a formal dinner table in the cabin, refilling drinks, performing wine service, all while ensuring your galley doesn’t look like a bomb just exploded. There are so many pieces to this puzzle and each one has to be executed with precision and the utmost finesse and grace.⁣⁣From the time you set your tablecloth, forks, knives, napkins, butter, and condiments; your guests are waiting. They’re ready to eat, and the sight of their table being set without any food to accompany it only exacerbates their hunger more. It’s a critical time for the Flight Attendant in the galley to act with haste in getting the first course out.⁣⁣This is where the true art of the canapé comes into play.⁣⁣I never list my canapés on the menu for the guests to see. I want them to be completely and totally surprised by a small serving tray emerging from the galley with bite size, beautiful canapés for them to enjoy while I slip back into the galley with ease to continue preparing their first course.⁣⁣It is truly the art of distraction.⁣⁣Not only does it create the sensation of a fine dining meal where the Chef sends out an unexpected amuse bouche to each table, but it creates a threshold of time for you as the Flight Attendant to then take a breath, and thoroughly plate and prepare your first course. It not only sets the tone, but also the pace for the experience you are wielding for your guests.⁣⁣This canapé is super fast and easy to assemble and best of all requires no heating or cooking which is a critical factor in prep time flow.⁣⁣Dried Apricots. Red White & Blue 🇺🇸 Happy Fourth of July⁣⁣“There is no love without freedom, and no freedom without love”⁣⁣🌹 Service Tip of the Day: Always nice to end an inflight meal service with individually wrapped mints, gum, and toothpicks. Sometimes even leaving this assortment on the galley counter while guests are disembarking is a nice, thoughtful touch as well

For those of you who may be new to the world of pr

For those of you who may be new to the world of private jets or following @Flightess 🛩🛩🛩🛩🛩 ⁣⁣I wanted to create this interior map so you have a reference when words like credenza or divan are used in captions! ⁣⁣𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐬: Club seats are the singular upholstered armchairs that are found in a 4 formation normally in the first section of the cabin. There can also be single club chairs across from the divan in the AFT⁣⁣𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐚: is a sideboard that is usually on the right side of the aircraft (if you’re facing towards cockpit). It can be used for boarding tables, buffet style service, and definitely storage!⁣𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: this is the large table located in the mid section where most inflight dining occurs⁣⁣𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐧: a divan is a low sofa placed against the fuselage (essentially a couch) that can be extended into a bed in the AFT section of the cabin⁣⁣📌 Bookmark for future reference if you’re considering entering this industry so you don’t mistakenly call the divan a couch 😝

The Art of The Red Eye 🔴👁 [microblog]⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣❗️Important Information to Collect (before the client goes to sleep) ❗️⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣• Would they like to sleep as long as possible or be woken up for breakfast? ⁣⁣⁣—> if they would like sleep as long as possible and skip breakfast, still prepare freshly baked croissants, cinnamon rolls, or even fruit skewers that would be easy to eat, fast, and minimal casual set-up while the beds are being broken down and put away for landing [sometimes I will make to-go bags with something like a small muffin for the guests to takeaway, as they may not feel hungry immediately upon landing but need a little nibble 20 minutes after they disembark]⁣⁣⁣—> Discuss with your captain what the landing weather will be like and when he/she would ideally like the cabin secure (aka beds broken down) and time your client’s wake up call accordingly ⁣⁣⁣• Ask “May I have any tea or coffee ready for you in the morning?” (Offer herbal tea, espresso, cappuccino etc)⁣⁣⁣—> this way, you are able to have their “cappuccino” or “fresh mint tea” ready to go alongside some fresh biscotti in another section of the cabin such as the FWD club seats. This will preoccupy them and remove them from the AFT divan section so you can put away the beds out of sight for cleaner optics and swiftness ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Comment below your best tips for inflight service on Red Eye flights !

Okay now that I have your attention with a pretty

Okay now that I have your attention with a pretty Gulfstream Window 🛩⁣⁣𝐂𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐜𝐤: After clearing and collecting guest’s dirty dishes and cutlery from the cabin, place your flatware in a large Ziploc Gallon bag with a bit of water and gentle dish soap to begin soaking. This makes it WAY easier to wash later and prevents any dried bits of food from sticking to the flatware. ⁣⁣+ I like to wash my dishes onboard time/ dish-load permitting but this task can also be done by the FBO (at minimum I like to wash the glassware onboard)⁣⁣Do you handover dirty dishes to the FBO after the flight or prefer to hand wash them yourself onboard? (No answer is wrong here!)

“Everyone eats and drinks, but few appreciate taste.” - Confucius⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣Olfaction plays a “dominant” role in the tasting of food. This important observation certainly deserves to be shared and potentially changes the way we menu plan for the private jet client. Delivering multisensory flavour experiences to our guests is just another way we can hit that next level inflight dining experience.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣One way I achieve this is by roasting fresh garlic, baking fresh bread, or baking sweet scents depending on the time of day or meal. This “primes” the guest’s nose for the meal to come.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣FUN FACT: Smells travel FWD to AFT in a private jet, this is one of the reasons Gulfstream designed AFT galleys for any guests with sensitivity to scent. ⁣⁣⁣⁣Excited to learn more information like this? the Flightess Career Acceleration Course is coming soon 🛩
